Dessert x BBQ: Grilled Fruit
A nicely prepared fruit salad tastes great, looks pretty, and is healthy: check, check, checkmate-NOT-SO-FAST!
Although the fruit salad appears to meet all of the requirements for a great dish, something is missing. It just doesn’t “feel” right. It’s like meeting that special someone who is kind, funny successful, hawwwt. You know, everything you thought you wanted. But, at the end of the day something is missing... or you just have unrealistic expectations.
Fruit salads are what you bring to a dinner party if you are feeling lazy or uncreative. When someone brings a fruit salad to the party, people eat it. But in the back of at least one person’s head, he or she is thinking,
“Their hands were all over this fruit. SICK. I would rather just cut the apple myself.”
or
“They didn’t even add berries! I spent $80 dollars on my fresh grain salad just so that everyone could try stupid sumac and saffron. Never again. Cheap son of uhhhh...(edited for explicit content).”
Instead, throw some fruit on the grill. Here are the steps:
- Slice a firm fruit like pineapple or mango
- Soak said fruit in lemon water for 20 minutes
- Brush lightly with olive oil
- Put fruit on the grill (cook it long enough on each side to get a nice charred grate lines)
- Flip
- Serve
Enjoy,
