DUCKCHAR Adventure Guide: Destination Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

We told you what to do in Ibiza. Now we're telling ya what to do in Barca. We just spent time in Catalonia and we're already ready to go back.

What to See
Barca is known for its world famous architecture and the face of the city’s architectural prowess is Gaudi. His handy work is found throughout the city at Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, and Casa Battlo to name a few. Beware: long lines and crowds are waiting at Parc Guell and Sagrada Familia. We suggest going early in the morning or late in the evening to minimize the throngs of people. If long lines are not your thing, check out some of Gaudi’s lesser known Barca works here.

Outside of Gaudi’s masterpieces, you can get lost wandering around the Gothic quarter or take a walk down the Rambla. And if you are tired from walking around, head to the beach - Playa de la Barceloneta. Lastly, if you are a soccer or futbol fan, plan your trip around FC Barcelona’s La Liga schedule and take in the action with Messi and the gang at Camp Nou.

Where to Stay
If you like being centrally located, stay near Placa Catalunya. You will be walking distance to a lot of the sights: La Rambla, Picasso Museum, just to name a few. Hotel prices vary greatly. We think that with so much to do, where you stay is really an afterthought. You are there to take in the city, not to lounge around in your robe. Anything with at least 3 Stars and favorable reviews should be perfect.

Where to Eat
Barcelona has food people. Lots of it. As we mentioned in our Ibiza guide, there are a lot of awesome restaurants and a lot of bad restaurants. If a restaurant serves brats, pizza, burgers and Tapas - Walk Away. We love El Quim de la Boqueria which is located inside the Boqueria Market just off the Rambla. Try the Padron Green Peppers, Cod of the Day and the Squid grilled with leeks. A few other awesome restaurants in no particular order: Bar Mut, Cacao SampakaBar Pinotxo.

all the shrimp

Enjoy!
