Best Falafel on Earth

On Sunday's Parisians eat falafel. The red building (right) is where you go. Ignore the green one.

Where’s the best falafel on earth? It’s not in America. It’s not in the Middle East. Whaaaaaaaaa?

The best falafel in the world is in the same place with as the best croissants, best handbags, best wine, best cabarets: Paris. It shouldn’t be surprising that Paris has a total lockdown on the falafel industry. It’s not just the city’s French cuisine that’s mind blowing. The best chefs from around the globe gather in the City of Light. Have you ever gone to a good pizza spot in Paris? If not, your mind would prob be blown by a 2.5 star (Yelp) Parisien ‘za joint. That’s just the baseline.

The holy grail of falafel is called Mi Va Mi and it’s located in the dopest neighborhood of Paris: The Marais.

Now, if you read a guidebook, the author of it will surely note that a falafel establishment (which will not be named) across the street from Mi Va Mi is actually the best. This is a lie. A number of years ago, Lenny Kravitz ate at Mi Va Mi’s rival and since then, the rival - who is a talented marketer - has been doing a very good job of running with it. People in Paris will actually tell you to eat there, “because it’s Lenny Kravitz’s fav falafel.” Ignore these folks. Lenny’s American Woman cover was great. But it should carry no weight when we’re evaluating chickpeas.

If you are lucky enough to visit Paris, and smart enough to follow our advice, make sure you order some, “sauce piquante” on your Mi Va Mi falafel. You won’t be disappointed.
